From 630d0aeaf607b4016e67895d81b0402a5dfcc769 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Patrick Cloke Date: Wed, 4 Jan 2023 14:58:08 -0500 Subject: [PATCH] Support RFC7636 PKCE in the OAuth 2.0 flow. (#14750) PKCE can protect against certain attacks and is enabled by default. Support can be controlled manually by setting the pkce_method of each oidc_providers entry to 'auto' (default), 'always', or 'never'. This is required by Twitter OAuth 2.0 support. --- changelog.d/14750.feature | 1 + .../configuration/config_documentation.md | 7 +- synapse/config/oidc.py | 6 + synapse/handlers/oidc.py | 54 ++++++- synapse/util/macaroons.py | 7 + tests/handlers/test_oidc.py | 152 +++++++++++++++++- tests/util/test_macaroons.py | 1 + 7 files changed, 212 insertions(+), 16 deletions(-) create mode 100644 changelog.d/14750.feature diff --git a/changelog.d/14750.feature b/changelog.d/14750.feature new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..cfed64ee80 --- /dev/null +++ b/changelog.d/14750.feature @@ -0,0 +1 @@ +Support [RFC7636](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7636) Proof Key for Code Exchange for OAuth single sign-on. diff --git a/docs/usage/configuration/config_documentation.md b/docs/usage/configuration/config_documentation.md index 23f9dcbea2..ec8403c7e9 100644 --- a/docs/usage/configuration/config_documentation.md +++ b/docs/usage/configuration/config_documentation.md @@ -3053,8 +3053,13 @@ Options for each entry include: values are `client_secret_basic` (default), `client_secret_post` and `none`. +* `pkce_method`: Whether to use proof key for code exchange when requesting + and exchanging the token.
